Where do you get this multibyte error message exactly?

Does this happen on a specific torrent, or on all torrents?

If you use the Transsmission WebUI (I don't think you do that now, right?) does the problem also occur?

Note that running torrents on NTFS is not recommended, since it will usually be very slow. However, it should work normally AFAICS.

I get it in the Transmission WebUI the fonera only "stops" and I have to hit the play button again in logread I don't see anything special...

so every day I might be lucky if I get 100mbytes...at this rate it will take a year

it's a shame... a month ago I was able to get a torrent with 70gbyte data; now I try thesame with 80gbyte of data;

I did a NTFS check under XP...and nothing is wrong with the volume

I'm currently doing it under Ubuntu with transmission no issues here...after a day it has allready downloaded more than the Fonera did in a week...

Sounds like an "export LC_CTYPE=C" is missing somewhere...

The torrents are dutch and contain accents like "café" it might be that? as previously I tried an english serie of like size and that was no issue but didn't require any high ascii

Hi, I also have the problem. With the same firmware installed (and re-installed). Nvever minds the origin of the torrent. ALL the downloads get stoped almost at the same time after a few seconds of the begining of the download. Regards, Guillermo

I'll update tranmission to the latest version (2.33). There has been some utf-8 related fix, so hopefully this issue is the same one. Please test the beta2 release when it gets out.

(In [2015]) transmission: Update to version 2.33.

Also refresh and slightly update the 200-crypt patch, no actual changes were made.

Interesting changes include:

  • Fix bug converting torrent file text contents to UTF-8
  • Better µTP support on systems running uClibc
  • µTP support
  • UDP tracker support
  • Multiscrape support
  • Download scarcest pieces first
  • Peer and Network preferences

See  https://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/Changes#version-2.33 for a complete list.

Did anyone who was suffering from this problem ever get around to testing the new version?

As part of the upcoming 2.3.7.0 firmware release, we're reviewing old open tickets to see if they are still relevant, which is why you get this response now.

If this issue still occurs with the  2.3.7.0 rc2 firmware, feel free to leave a comment here so we can further investigate.
