#1167 confirmed enhancement

port number change for fonera wan services

Reported by: mihaly.reg@… Owned by:
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: fon-network Version: N/A
Severity: unknown
Cc: Hardware: both

Description

Often happens that wan is scanned by hackers on well known ports, to gain root on fonera. With a good password the attacks are rejected but still load fonera and often hangs, a reset is required. Request: define custom ports for all of fonera wan services like ssh, ftp, http/https webui.

Sounds good, but not on the short term (patches welcome, of course).

I suspect the best way to implement this is to let the various startup scripts / daemons look at /etc/config/services for the port number. This allows power users to change the port number there to move the service and have the firewall updated at the same time.

A second step, would be to add a webui page for these ports, but perhaps this isn't even needed (since this is a power user thing anyway).
