#170 closed bug (fixed)

Wifi Internet uplink with WEP not working

Description

I know WEP is insecure but that is irrelevant.

When configuring the uplink with WEP the fonera will not connect to the uplink Wifi access point. On further investigation using ssh I found that "uci get wireless.uplink.key1" would give me my WEP key with an s: in front.

So I modified /lib/fon/config.sh line 212 from:

uci_set "wireless" "uplink" "key1" "s:$key"

and changed to:

uci_set "wireless" "uplink" "key1" "$key"

Now everything is working appart from a slight cosmetical error on the dashboard where the status displays my netmask as the default gateway for some reason but checking in the shell everything is fine:

Firmware Version: 2.2.2.2 Internet connection

  • Connection type: wifi
  • IP Address: 192.168.10.2
  • Gateway address: 255.255.255.0
  • DNS Server: 192.168.10.1

Wi-Fi Settings

  • Public Wi-Fi: FON_PUBLIC_WIFI
  • Private Wi-Fi: Pumuckl
  • Encryption: wpa
  • IP Address: 192.168.11.1
