3G dongle not recognized: Option ICON 401

Description
I want to use Fonera 2 as a mobile/personal hotspot, so only use it with a 3G dongle. But when I plug in my dongle, nothing happens; no USB led light and a 3G cross on the dashboard. Here's my setup:
- Fonera 2.0 (2.2.5.0 "flipper" firmware)
- 3G: KPN Mobile (The Netherlands)
- Dongle: Option ICON 401
