Support 3G dongle: Ice.net C-motech D-50

Description

Hi,

I'm having trouble using a C-motech D-50 on the Fonera 2.0. It won't recognize the 3G USB Stick. Also the Fonera 2.0 knows the settings for the Swedish Ice.net provider, but it won't save the setting, probably because Ice.net doesn't use a APN. But if I put in the settings manually, it still won't recognize my USB 3G stick. Even with a USB hub attached!

Different sticks are recognized, like the NL T-Mobile stick.

Any news yet wether this stick is going to be supported by FON? I bought a FON2303 and used that, same result as with the FON2202.

By the Way, it's the same result on an 2.0N as the 2.0G!

Both Logs were created on a clean Fonera 2.0N with the newest firmware 2.3.7.0 B2.

Hmm, seems the logread output is cluttered with spam from onlined and fonsmcd. Could you run the following command to silence them before plugging in the dongle?

root@Fonera:~# killall onlined fonsmcd

I checked umtsd file.

It told me it tried to connect to APN: cdma.

This stick operates 450MHz band (HSPDA).

It doesn't require an APN!

My Draytek Vigor 2910G is, as far as i know, the only machine that can connect with this USB Internet Stick.

  • Component changed from fon-base-firmware to fon-network-3g
  • Hardware changed from unknown to both
  • Priority changed from high to normal
  • Status changed from infoneeded to investigate
  • Summary changed from Ice.net C-motech D-50 to Support 3G dongle: Ice.net C-motech D-50
  • Type changed from bug to enhancement
  • Version set to N/A

As part of the upcoming 2.3.7.0 firmware release, we're reviewing old open tickets to see if they are still relevant, which is why you get this response now.

We will revamp the 3G point at some point in the future. When this happens, we'll need to revisit supporting this 3G stick as well.
