Description

I connected my hard drive to windows (http://wiki.fon.com/wiki/Windows_Network_Share_Configuration) but my fonera 2.0n IP is changing and I have to reconfigure windows each time the IP adresse change.

Is there a way to have a constant IP adresse?

thanks, regards,

david

First, this isn't really something for a ticket: It is neither a well-described bug, nor a feature request. In the future, post questions like these on the forum or IRC (see http://blog.fonosfera.org/comment-policy/).

To answer your question: I assume you're talking about connecting to SAMBA through the WAN side (since the LAN side should have a constant address). The easiest way to fix this, is to give the Fonera a fixed address. You can either configure this on your modem/router, to always assign the same address to the Fonera using DHCP (but not all modems support this). Alternatively, you can configure the Fonera internet settings to use "static" instead of "DHCP" and pick a static address (be sure to pick an address that is outside of the DHCP range of your modem/router, but inside the network. E.g., if the DHCP range is 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.1.200, then 192.168.1.201 would be a good candidate).
