ability to override ISPs DNS

Reported by: Till <klimpong@…> Owned by:

Component: fon-network Version: N/A
Severity: minor
Cc: Hardware: both

Description

My ISPs DNS is down every so often. I usually use 8.8.8.8 or the OpenDNS servers has a failover.

It would be nice if there is an option on the fonera to use another DNS server which is used to override the DNS received from the ISP.

Change History

Changed 3 years ago by matthijs

  • hardware changed from 2.0n (FON2300) to both
  • status changed from new to confirmed
  • version changed from 2.3.6.1 (Gari jr.) to N/A
  • severity changed from unknown to minor
  • milestone set to Firmware 2.3

This sounds like a good idea. It is somewhat related to #686, which concerns custom DNS in pppoe mode.

I think my ticket duplicates #686 - feel free to close this.

How do I subscribe to #686?

Ah, you are right. I had thought this ticket applied to "DHCP" mode, as opposed to "ppoe" mode, but I see now that DHCP mode already has a DNS override.

Subscribing to a ticket is done by asking in a comment so I can add you to the CC field. I'll go ahead and do that for #686.
